General of the U.S. Army (1981). Hero of World War II. Chief of the First Directorate of the Central Intelligence Agency (European Operations) from the administration of President John F. Leah Sardar (wife of Murad)

Leah (Lea) Sardar (née Goldstein; 1919, Berlin, Weimar Republic — 1995, Glenwood, Sevier County, Utah, USA) — American writer, contributor to The New Yorker. During World War II she served in the Women’s Army Corps, holding the rank of Corporal (handling front-line correspondence). Her book “Life of an Officer’s Wife” was awarded the National Book Award (USA) and the Israel Prize for Literature.

Ernst Schröder (Karl’s superior)

Ernst Schröder (1896, Munich, Kingdom of Bavaria, German Empire — 1945, Berlin, Third Reich) — military and political figure, SS officer (Sturmbannführer, a rank equivalent to Major). During the Weimar Republic — a Reichstag official, representative of Bavaria. Under the Third Reich — head of the regional branch of the Reich Chancellery in Berlin. Veteran of World War I. An opponent of the Third Reich’s ideology, he helped his young subordinate escape the country while choosing to remain in service himself. He was never implicated in war crimes. Killed in the final days of World War II, following the Battle of Berlin.


Aidar Sardar (son of Murad and Leah)

Aidar Sardar (known among cowboys as “Quick Aidi”; 1937, Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, USA) — son of Murad and Leah. College graduate, student at Yale University (Bachelor of Arts in Literature with a focus in Philosophy), enthusiast of cowboy culture and aesthetics, Deputy Sheriff of Glenwood, Utah.
